BUS2: Business & Professional Ethics

Professional ethics encompass the personal, organizational, and corporate standards of behavior expected by professionals. Include: designer’s responsibility to clients, how designers interact with each other, designer’s responsibility to the public, fees and compensation, basic conduct, maintaining behavior in accordance with laws, benefits of transparency.

Essential Skills & Abilities

  • Understand professional attitudes supportive of web implementation
  • Identify the solution to an ethical dilemma at the lowest management level possible, within the practice or management structure
  • Evaluate a situation involving conflicting professional and ethical interests to determine an appropriate course of action
  • Evaluate the attitudes of others in order to more effectively work with them
  • Evaluate, using actual situations, how attitudes advanced or hindered an engineering project
  • Prepare appropriate resources to assist in the resolution of an ethical dilemma
  • Perform in an ethical manner, with personal and professional integrity
  • Perform selection and implementation of appropriate steps to record or to report to higher-level management or to public authorities in the event that an ethical matter is not adequately resolved
