Learn Body of Knowledge

The Web Management Professional Body of Knowledge (WMPBoK) is defined as:

  • A set of accepted and agreed upon capabilites, standards and nomenclatures pertaining to the field of web management
  • A set of knowledge within the profession which is generally agreed as both essential and generally known
  • The systematic collection of activities and outcomes in terms of their values, constructs, models, principles and instantiations, which (a) arises from continuous discovery and validation work by members of the profession and (b) enables self-reflective growth and reproduction of the profession

The core of any body of knowledge is a set of defined capabilities and knowledge areas. The knowledge matrix is then extended to topics, each of which have a defined set of inputs, outputs, and tools & techniques. These topics are refined and extended during regular, peer-reviewed body of knowledge revisions. Learn more about the WMPBoK.

Record a Featured Project

Once certified, Web Management Professionals can record a featured project that can be recorded in their membership profile. Candidates will have 1 year to record this project which illustrates their level of expertise. Projects can be from an existing portfolio or designed solely for the purpose of the WMP certification.

Continuing Education

Maintaining the WMP certification is key to one’s professional growth. It is a means of demonstrating ongoing commitment to the profession, and to enhancing skills, career opportunities, and collaborative participation in the larger community of Web professionals.

To support current certification, members need to obtain 15 Re-certification Units (RUs) within a 3-year certification period, or attain the next WMPBoK level. At the Master level, only re-certification is required.

Individuals can accumulate or earn RUs from professional activities that increase their knowledge and understanding of the WMPBoK, or in some way enhance their job skills, capabilities, and performance.
